Another Disaster struck by the Novel Coronavirus & Another Nation is in Shock.
Covid-19 cases are on the rise once more. Vanuatu, a Pacific island country, has reportedly limited all of its external relations. They made the decision after discovering a body washed up on the beach that tested positive for Covid-19. It was covered by Radio New Zealand.
The alleged body was of a Filipino fisherman, as revealed on April 11 on a Vanuatu beach on Efate island.
According to New Zealand public broadcaster RNZ, a UK-flagged tanker discovered one crew member missing as it left Port Vila on the same day. Vanuatu port authorities ordered the tanker to return to port, and a search and rescue operation was launched.
Authorities obstructed the tanker after the body of a crew member was discovered on the island. According to RNZ, the body was moved to a mortuary and later tested positive for Covid-19. It’s unknown whether or not the person died as a result of the Covid-19 virus.
The majority of the South Pacific’s tropical island nations have few coronavirus cases, and Vanuatu, with a population of about 300,000 people, is no exception. Only three cases of Covid-19 have been identified so far, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The very first case was reported in November of last year, followed by two more infections in March. The travel ban is in effect, according to Prime Minister Bob Loughman, until authorities perform touch tracing.
As per the report, 16 people have been placed in quarantine as a result of these efforts, the majority of which are police officers who responded to the scene when the body was discovered. According to RNZ, the director-general of health, Russell Tamata, is encouraging the public to get tested, even though the risk of community transmission is poor.
