OEG Strengthens U.S. Presence with Strategic Acquisition of Trinity Rental Services
In a move that doubles its regional fleet and brings 80 new employees onboard, OEG’s acquisition of Trinity Rental Services marks a major milestone in its U.S. expansion.
OEG, a leading global provider of energy logistics and offshore solutions, has announced the acquisition of Trinity Rental Services (TRS) and its affiliated businesses. The acquisition significantly enhances OEG’s U.S. capabilities, doubles its regional fleet, and adds a new dimension of inspection services to its growing portfolio.
Doubling Down in the Gulf of Mexico
Headquartered in Lafayette, Louisiana, Trinity Rental Services has carved out a strong position in offshore container rentals across the Gulf of Mexico since its founding in 2013. With a fleet of DNV and SEPCO-certified units, TRS also provides mechanical integrity and fabric maintenance services, supporting offshore asset safety and compliance.
With this acquisition, OEG gains:
- A regional revenue boost—TRS recorded $53 million in FY24
- A young fleet of ~5,600 Cargo Carrying Units (CCUs)
- 80 skilled employees, all of whom will transition to OEG
- Access to API-certified inspection services, expanding OEG’s offerings
- Over 80,000 CCUs in its global fleet, post-acquisition
This marks the first major acquisition by OEG after its own acquisition by Apollo, in a deal valued at over $1 billion.
Leadership Speaks: Growth, Synergies, and the Future
“This important acquisition strengthens our footprint in the U.S. and underscores our belief that our specialist oil and gas services will remain strong for decades to come,” said John Heiton, CEO of OEG. “It adds talent, fleet capability, and assets further building our offering in a robust, long-term market.”
Heiton added that the integration brings meaningful synergies, especially after OEG recently secured a major cargo logistics contract with a global operator in North America.

Garett Gauthier, OEG’s Regional Director for the Americas, shared: “This is a strategic fit. TRS brings deep relationships, a high-quality fleet, and a shared dedication to customer service and innovation. Our combined capabilities will significantly enhance the customer experience across the region.”
Trinity Rental Services steps onto the global stage
“Our companies were built on relationships and responsiveness,” said Jonathan Foreman, Owner of Trinity Rental Services. “This partnership honors our Louisiana roots and opens up new global opportunities for our team. We’re proud of what we’ve built—and excited for the next chapter with OEG.”
