Instagram’s algorithm has been changed as a result of suspected bias in the Gaza crisis

Instagram reportedly shifted the way it shows content after being chastised for allegedly suppressing pro-Palestinian sentiments during the recent Gaza conflict.
According to a company representative, the explanation for this preference appears to be that most Instagram users have more posts to follow than time to review them. The company discovered that customers are more interested in original tales from their closest friends.
It’s also led people to feel they were concealing articles about certain themes or points of view, she claims. They want to make it quite obvious that this isn’t the case.
According to the spokeswoman, the firm had been aware of the situation for some time and it was not caused solely by the present issue.
The app formerly prioritized original content over re-shared information in its “tales” section, but now claims to accept both equally.
Instagram claimed that this was an unexpected consequence rather than an attempt to restrict anyone’s perspective.
During the recent Gaza crisis, social media channels were actively used by both sides to broadcast messages of support.
Several pro-Palestinian comments were among the most widely shared, meaning that, unlike original posts, they would have received less attention under the existing structure.
