Child safety and community partnerships at the heart of Hyundai’s “Progress for Humanity” mission

Recognition for Safety-Driven CSR Excellence

“Hyundai is honored to receive this award recognising our commitment to safety through partnerships with leading children’s hospitals nationwide,” said Brian Latouf, Global Chief Safety and Quality Officer, Hyundai Motor Group. “As an automaker, our responsibility extends beyond building safe, high-quality vehicles. It includes empowering parents with the knowledge and communities with the resources to protect their children on and around the road. Our child safety seat checks and pedestrian safety events play a vital role in teaching and promoting best practices that help prevent injuries and save lives.” (PR Newswire)

Focus on Community Safety: Hyundai Hope Initiative

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of car and booster seats are installed incorrectly or used improperly. Hyundai addresses this through “Hyundai Hope” by partnering with major children’s hospitals such as Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to deliver education programmes in child passenger and pedestrian safety. (PR Newswire)

Last year, Hyundai hosted seven child-safety events across the U.S., working with hospitals including Lurie Children’s Chicago, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Children’s of Alabama and Children’s Hospital of Savannah. In total, nearly 2,500 car seats were distributed, and more than 4,500 families received safety education. )

Beyond Vehicles: Building Community Value

Hyundai Hope exemplifies the company’s wider vision — aligned with its “Progress for Humanity” ethos — to provide time, expertise and resources to nonprofits focused on health, safety and positive community growth. Hyundai Motor America’s U.S. operations generate about US $20.1 billion in annual economic impact and support some 190,000 jobs across headquarters, manufacturing plants and R&D facilities.

Award Criteria and Significance

The Merit Awards in the business category were judged on leadership, innovation, work environment and social impact. A panel of journalists, executives, consultants, educators and entrepreneurs reviewed entries from major companies across the U.S. (drivespark.com)

Hyundai Motor America’s Marion of safety-first initiatives, community partnerships and measurable impact earned it a top CSR award. The Gold recognition underlines that the company views corporate responsibility not as an add-on but a central pillar of business strategy.
