Hengtong Participates in UN Senior Dialogue on Sustainable Business and Brands

Group reinforces global commitment to climate goals and green innovation
Hengtong Group recently took part in the Senior Level Dialogue on “Building Sustainable Business and Brands” at the United Nations Palace of Nations in Geneva. The event was organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Forum on Sustainable Standards (UNFSS), and the China Association for Standardization (CAS), along with its Sustainable Business and Brand Committee (SBBC).
A central outcome of the dialogue was the release of the “Commitment to Build Sustainable Brands”, an initiative launched by the Sustainable Business Leaders Forum (SBLF) and the SBBC of CAS. Signed by leading Chinese enterprises, the manifesto signals long-term dedication to building sustainable brands and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
Representing the signing enterprises, Jiang Li, Chairman of SBBC and Chief Coordinator of SBLF (China), presented the initiative to Pedro Manuel Moreno, Deputy Secretary-General of UNCTAD. Hengtong joined as one of the first batch of enterprises endorsing the initiative, demonstrating its leadership in sustainable business practices.
This milestone coincides with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, a fitting moment for global enterprises to reaffirm their commitment to climate action and sustainable growth. Hengtong is aligning its corporate vision with the Paris Agreement, targeting a global temperature rise limited to 1.5°C. Its strategy emphasizes green transformation of the digital and energy sectors through technological innovation and the creation of a low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.
The company has set ambitious goals of carbon peaking by 2028 and carbon neutrality by 2045. Achievements to date include:
- Establishing nine national-level green factories
- Six enterprises recognized for green supply chain management
- Three green design demonstration enterprises
- Thirteen categories of certified green products
Subsidiaries have also gained global recognition: two enterprises achieved net-zero certification under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi); one joined the United Nations Global Compact; and another earned the Ecovadis Gold Medal. Hengtong has also been honored with the Global Award for Excellence in Performance, the Global Human Settlements Environment Award, and recognition as an ESG Excellence Enterprise in the New Energy Sector. Looking ahead, Hengtong plans to expand collaboration with global partners to build a sustainable industrial and supply chain ecosystem. Through continuous investment in innovation, green practices, and international cooperation, the Group aims to contribute significantly to advancing global sustainable development.
