Heather Morse Joins Gray, Gray & Gray as Audit Director, Strengthening Firm’s Audit & Assurance Leadership

CANTON, MA: Gray, Gray & Gray, LLP, a leading accounting and business consulting firm based in Canton, Massachusetts, has announced the appointment of Heather Morse, CPA, as Director in the firm’s Audit & Assurance department. In her new role, Morse will oversee complex audit engagements, strengthen client relationships, and help deliver high-quality assurance services aligned with evolving regulatory requirements and client needs.

Morse brings with her nearly three decades of experience in public accounting, having spent 28 years at PwC, where she built a distinguished career within the firm’s audit practice. During her tenure, she rose to the position of Director in PwC’s Chief Auditor Network, a role that placed her at the forefront of audit quality, technical standards, and the development of innovative audit methodologies.

Her extensive background positions her well to support organizations navigating increasing regulatory scrutiny, financial complexity, and stakeholder expectations. “We are very fortunate to welcome a professional with Heather’s depth of experience and leadership to our team,” said James DeLeo, MBA, CPA/MST, Leading Partner at Gray, Gray & Gray. “Heather has a proven track record of guiding and advising clients through complex audit matters and of using audit insights to help organizations gain clarity, confidence, and a stronger path forward.”

At Gray, Gray & Gray, Morse will play a key role in leading audit and assurance engagements across a broad range of industries. Her responsibilities will include managing multidisciplinary teams, advising clients on risk management and compliance, and ensuring audits are conducted with technical rigor, transparency, and strategic insight. The firm expects her expertise to further enhance its reputation for delivering assurance services that go beyond compliance to create meaningful business value.

Morse’s career foundation at PwC exposed her to a wide spectrum of clients, from middle-market enterprises to large, complex organizations. Her work within the Chief Auditor Network involved close collaboration with senior audit professionals to interpret new accounting standards, strengthen audit quality frameworks, and implement best practices across engagement teams. This experience has given her a deep understanding of how audit functions can evolve to meet changing regulatory landscapes and stakeholder demands.

A graduate of Lehigh University, Morse earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and an active member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). Her professional background reflects a strong commitment to technical excellence, ethical standards, and continuous professional development. Her appointment comes at a time when Gray, Gray & Gray is reinforcing its strategic direction amid significant consolidation across the accounting industry.

The firm recently reaffirmed its commitment to remaining independent, citing its 80-year history, people-first culture, and client-focused philosophy as core strengths. Leadership believes that independence enables the firm to deliver personalized service, invest in long-term client relationships, and attract experienced professionals who value autonomy and impact. Gray, Gray & Gray is consistently recognized for its performance and management excellence.

The firm is ranked among the Top 200 accounting firms in the United States by INSIDE Public Accounting magazine and has been named to the publication’s prestigious “Best of the Best” list, highlighting it as one of the nation’s best-managed firms. Serving clients across diverse industries, the firm provides accounting, tax, audit, and business consulting services tailored to the evolving needs of growing organizations. The addition of Heather Morse further strengthens Gray, Gray & Gray’s Audit & Assurance practice and underscores the firm’s ongoing investment in leadership talent, technical expertise, and client service excellence.
