Huawei Wins Best Technology Provider Award at Electricity Connect 2025

Global tech leader recognized in Jakarta for driving Indonesia’s energy transition with digital and intelligent innovations

The Electricity Connect 2025 conference, organized by the Indonesia Electrical Power Society (MKI) in collaboration with several partner institutions, concluded successfully in Jakarta with a strong focus on the country’s evolving energy landscape. A highlight of the event was Huawei’s recognition as the Best Technology Provider, an honor that reinforces the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting Indonesia’s shift toward a greener, smarter and more resilient power sector.

The award celebrates Huawei’s continued investment in digital and intelligent technologies that strengthen Indonesia’s ability to modernise its grid, improve efficiency and accelerate the national energy transition. Huawei has worked closely with industry partners, government entities and energy companies to deliver future-ready solutions that integrate traditional power systems with advanced ICT capabilities.

Speaking at the event, Andy Huang, CEO of Huawei’s Power Generation Intelligentization Business Unit, emphasised the transformative shift taking place in the global economy. According to him, the world has moved from agricultural and industrial foundations into the digital age and is rapidly progressing toward an intelligent economy powered by the convergence of the physical and digital worlds. Andy noted that the physical world continues to rely on energy, both traditional and renewable, while the digital world is driven by data and advanced technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and cloud computing. In this new era, he said, bits and watts together form the core driving force of intelligent development.

Andy also highlighted the rapid changes taking place across the power industry. Every element of the sector, including generation, transmission, distribution, consumption and storage, is undergoing digitalisation. He stressed the need to strengthen information flow management in addition to energy flow management. This enables comprehensive perception, reliable connectivity, real-time analysis and autonomous decision-making, all essential to building a cleaner, low-carbon and intelligent power system that can respond effectively to future demands.

He pointed out that Indonesia’s power capacity is projected to rise significantly, from about 100 GW today to 450 GW by 2060. As the nation undergoes this major transformation, Huawei plans to deepen its support by providing advanced ICT infrastructure that enables a wide range of intelligent applications across the power generation sector. The goal is to help Indonesia build a smarter, more efficient and more sustainable energy ecosystem.

During the conference, Huawei presented its newest technological advancements, including end-to-end solutions such as smart photovoltaic systems, smart distribution solutions and the Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS), which enhances grid resilience. The company also demonstrated how 5G, AI and cloud technologies can be embedded in the power sector to accelerate the next wave of technological transformation globally.

As Indonesia intensifies its focus on renewable energy integration and national grid upgrades, Huawei Indonesia reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with the state electricity firm, expanding collaboration with local and international energy organizations and contributing more actively to the country’s rapidly evolving energy landscape.
