British Safety Council Opens Applications for the International Safety Awards 2026

The British Safety Council has officially opened applications for the International Safety Awards (ISA) 2026, marking the 68th edition of the globally respected programe that recognizes outstanding commitment to workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.

Celebrated worldwide as one of the most credible benchmarks of safety excellence, the awards honour organisations that demonstrate robust leadership, strong governance, and continuous improvement in safeguarding their workforce.

Launching this year’s edition, Mike Robinson, Chief Executive, British Safety Council, said:
“The International Safety Awards have long been regarded as a pinnacle of achievement in protecting and ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of workers. Our vision is simple: no one should be injured or made ill through their work—anywhere in the world.”

In 2025, the awards received 874 applications, with 90% earning Distinction, Merit, or Pass grades, reaffirming a strong commitment to global safety standards.

Award Categories for 2026

Applicants can be recognised across five major categories, including:

  • Sector Awards – Honouring the best-in-class submissions by industry category.
  • Best in Country Awards – Rewarding the highest-scoring applications from each participating country.
  • Best in Company Award – For organisations with 50+ participating sites.
  • Chief Adjudicator’s Award – Recognising the most exceptional applications overall.
  • People Awards (India exclusive) – Featuring:
    • Site/Plant Head Award
    • Emerging Female Star in Safety Award
    • Lifetime Achievement Award

Free-to-Enter Categories

A notable highlight this year is the inclusion of eleven awards that are completely free to enter, regardless of participation in the main International Safety Awards. These include:

  • Road Safety Initiative
  • India Managing Director Award
  • Dave Parr Medal
  • Environmental Award
  • Health and Safety Transformation Award
  • Health, Safety & Wellbeing Ambassador of the Year
  • Rising Female Star Award (with SOWSHE-A)
  • CEO Award
  • The James Tye Award
  • Team of the Year Award
  • Wellbeing Initiative Award

These categories celebrate innovation, leadership, and impactful initiatives that advance health, safety, environmental stewardship, and wellbeing.
