138th Canton Fair Showcased Surge in Eco-Friendly Construction Solutions

The 138th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) highlighted a pivotal shift in China’s construction sector as the country accelerated its transition toward high-quality, sustainable development. At the Building and Decorative Materials section in Phase 2, exhibitors presented new generations of green and functional construction materials designed to meet rising global demand for environmentally responsible solutions.

A long-standing exhibitor, presenting through its international trade center, showcased a broad portfolio including architectural ceramics, eco-friendly building materials, and smart home innovations. Among the key products were ceramic tiles inspired by natural cave stone textures and foamed ceramics developed from recycled solid waste. These lightweight materials offered high fire resistance, waterproofing, and sound insulation while reducing construction waste and promoting circular manufacturing processes.

Another exhibitor, a frequent participant with more than 40 editions of the fair and distribution across 50+ countries, underscored the event’s value as a gateway to global markets. The company exhibited wall panels made from medical-grade PVC and bamboo fiber, engineered to resist moisture and mold while offering easy installation in residential and commercial spaces. Its WPC outdoor flooring combined the appearance of natural wood with enhanced durability and weather resistance, making it a fit for balconies, poolside settings, and outdoor pathways. The exhibitor also introduced soft ceramic tiles that used only one-third of the energy required to produce traditional ceramics, while still complying with stringent fire safety standards. The tiles’ flexibility, recyclability, and impact resistance further aligned their design with growing sustainability expectations.

A third exhibitor, recognized for advancements in high-end ceramics, returned to strengthen partnerships and present technological breakthroughs. Its display focused on the theme of “high, refined, and new,” emphasizing original design excellence, material innovation, and improvements in digital manufacturing. Innovations featured textured surface enhancements, upgraded digital molding, adhesive positioning for dry grains, and crystal-grain digital processing. In addition, a newly launched series drew inspiration from Eastern aesthetics while integrating global contemporary design trends. Leveraging proprietary technology, the products demonstrated how creative craftsmanship and technological progress could redefine modern living environments.

The activity at the fair reflected a broader and steady industry shift toward green and design-driven construction. Rather than rapid disruption, the evolution was seen through practical innovation, smarter material choices, and stronger alignment with environmental responsibilities. As the Canton Fair continued to serve as a key platform connecting Chinese manufacturers with international buyers, the growing adoption of sustainable technologies in building materials signaled long-term potential for more resilient development across global construction markets.
